Cannonau di Sardegna

The way the vines are grown, the kind of soil and the wine-making procedures determine the organoleptic properties of this wine.

Subdenominations: Nepente di Oliena, Cannonau di Jerzu and Cannonau di Capo Ferrato.

This ruby red ,bordering on garnet red, wine has an intense, ample, sweet floral fragrance, somewhat similar to ripe plums, blackberries, fruits of the forest and, sometimes, it has slight notes of spices and aromatic wood. Its taste is dry, rich, balanced, intense, persistent, alcohol-warm, with a good medium body and the right amount of tannins.

The “Reserve”, which is aged for two years (six months minimum in a barrel), has a minimum 13% content of alcohol. There are rose, dry port-like and sweet port-like varieties as well.

Carignano del Sulcis

In 1977 it was made a DOC wine. No less than 85% of it is made from grapes from the vines with that name, mixed with other black grapes of the area.

Monica di Sardegna

Two DOC wines, Monica di Sardegna and Monica di Cagliari, are made from the grapes of this vine. The first wine has a medium body and is excellent drunk at meals; the second wine is port-like or passito and is to be drunk at the end of a meal. Monica di Sardegna wine has a clear, brilliant ruby red colour which changes to amaranth red as the wine ages. Its intense, wine fragrance is an elegant and floral bouquet. This dry, rich, very warm wine has an unmistakable aftertaste that is almost sweet.

 Cagnulari

In 1995 this wine became a controlled denomination of origin wine belonging to the DOC area of Alghero. This particular vine variety does not adapt easily but has been grown successfully with the alberello-training system in the area around the town of Sassari.

The colour of this elegant, full-bodied wine ranges between full ruby red with purple lights and garnet red.  Its intense, wine fragrance has geranium and spice notes. It has a dry, harmonious and slightly bitter taste, with a fairly robust body and plenty of tannins. The alcohol volume ranges between 13 and 15-16%.
