
Vermentino di Gallura
There are two varieties of Vermentino, the “Sardinia” DOC variety (produced all over Sardinia) and the “Gallura” DOCG variety (produced only in the Colli di Gallura ). Vermentino di Gallura is a straw-yellow wine with pale greenish lights, with an intense, fruity and floral scent, peach, ripe apple, acacia, wild flowers and bitter almond notes..
It tastes dry and pleasantly fine. It is has thicker body and a more complex character than Vermentino di Sardegna. The Superiore (superior) variety is more aromatic. Vermentino di Gallura is great for making passito wines. The alcohol volume of the Superiore variety is 12 or 13.
Nuragus di Cagliari
Nuragus wine is produced mainly in the area around Cagliari. The alcohol volume is 10.5 and the colour is a pale straw yellow with greenish lights. The floral bouquet scent is light, delicate, wine-like with fruity notes. It has a dry, harmonious and slightly acidic taste, with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Semidano di Sardegna
It is one of the oldest Sardinian vine varieties. This DOC wine with an intense and fine fragrance and strong body is usually drunk at meals or used as brut spumante (dry sparkly wine). Its colour is straw yellow with pale golden lights. When swallowed it is soft, dry, tasty and freshly bitter. The alcohol volume is between 11 and 11.5.
Torbato di Alghero
It is an old vine variety. The grapes of this old vine variety are used only to produce Alghero Torbato, a more expensive wine known as “Terre Bianche” and a Brut wine. It is a straw yellow wine with a slight aromatic fragrance that is delicately wine-like. It has a rich and harmonious taste, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. The alcohol volume is 11.
